Here's an update on 6th grade's goings-on:
MAP testing- It has arrived
Our MAP tests arrived sooner than I had realized! We begin testing on Wednesday afternoon and will continue testing in the afternoons through next Tuesday. These tests provide me with a geat baseline to assess current student levels and plan for the year. PLEASE help them do their best by making sure they get plenty of rest each night. PLEASE help them do their best by making sure they have a plentiful, healthy lunch and PLEASE pack a sizable snack for each day. I will try to give them an opportunity to nibble on a little something extra before we head in for testing each day. Please check the Parent Toolkit document for additional information.
Amphitheater and Trojan Horse- Success with Projects
Wow! I can't believe we did it! Head to our Projects Page to see some photographs of our work: http://chpcs6thgrade.weebly.com/2014-2015-projects.html
We owe a huge thank you to all of the parent volunteers who came and chipped in and made these projects a reality. I am seriously impressed. We've done the impossible and that's what makes us mighty!
Field Trip- Volunteer Forms, Video Training, Etc.
Today I discovered that there is a lot more that goes into getting ready to chaperone for a field trip than I realized. It seems that most of our classroom parents have at least one item missing from their volunteer requirements. If you volunteer regularly or are joining us for an upcoming field trip I will be contacting you to let you know if there is any paperwork that is still missing. I appreciate your understanding.
Our next field trip is on Thursday, November 20. We will be going to Reed College to tour their nuclear reactor and engage in a few lab experiments. We will be gone from campus from 8:00 am to about 12:30 pm. I am hoping to coordinate a visit to our neighborhood coffee shop upon our return that same afternoon. If you haven't signed up for this trip but are interested, please let me or Mrs. Masterson know!
Conferences- Here they come!
Fall conference reflection forms were sent out with students today. Please use these to prepare yourselves for our conference! They are not required but come highly recommended by other teachers. We've found that they help focus conferences and maximize their usefulness.

Let me know if you need to try to schedule for an unlisted time.
Classroom Help- Hole punching and sorting and binding
I have a small organizational project that I need some parental help with. If you have some time, check in with me and I can show you what I need done! This should take roughly 30 minutes or so.
Website and Study Stacks- A bit behind
I am about a week behind in updating my website and study stacks. I will try to get everything caught up to date so that those can continue to serve your needs!
Always more where that came from, there is!
