High School Information Night
On October 13th Mrs. Adams will be meeting with the 8th grade families to discuss high school options. She would like to extend an invitation to 5th, 6th, and 7th grade parents to also attend. We know many of you are starting to think about high school options and how Cascade Heights supports your child in making the transition. The meeting will be held in the 8th grade classroom at 7:00 pm.
Ms. Venture’s Updates:
Science: Sixth grade students spent this week learning about the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy, dark matter and quasars. Please see the blog for details, presentations, and the Constellation Map Project (due October 17th).
Seventh grade students spent the week expanding their learning of the Periodic Table as well as completing their lab reports and getting their science textbooks. Please see the blog for daily details.
Literature: We are continuing to develop knowledge of classical literature through The Prince and the Pauper (6th) and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (7th). Please ask your student to share with you information about storyline, characters, and interesting new vocabulary they have learned! Seventh graders began an art project depicting Jekyll and Hyde in words. They are welcome to search through magazines this weekend to add to their project. Finished pieces will be displayed outside the seventh grade classroom for viewing.
Computer/Library: The school’s library is looking great and is being used by all classes thanks to the continued efforts of 6th and 7th grade students! We are looking forward to beginning our computer lab work next week!
Mr. Vieira’s Updates:
Riggs (Spelling): Next week we will take a break from learning new spelling words in order to focus on creating a reference notebook for Riggs definitions and grammar.
History/Geography: We have seen drastic improvement on our daily geography quizzes in both 6th and 7th grade. Please remind your student to study their maps a few minutes each night. They are available on the blog here: http://chpcsvieira.weebly.com/geography.html
Sixth grade is wrapping up their study of world religions this week and will begin learning about ancient Greece this coming Tuesday.
Seventh grade is wrapping up their study of American imperialism today with an engineering challenge related to the Panama Canal! Next week we will begin learning about World War I.
Writing: Next week we will take a break from writing assignments in order to focus on creating a reference notebook for grammar.
