Ms. Venture’s Updates:
Science: Sixth grade students spent the past two weeks reviewing material through the games they created and preparing for their assessment last Wednesday. They all did very well. Next week we begin our study of Energy.
Seventh graders continued working on their Google Slides presentations, due Monday. A reminder, the presentation must be at least 5 minutes in length and contain a minimum of 5 slides (more is okay). Each slide should contain 3 - 5 bullet points and at least one image. Students were encouraged to include links to external sites and videos in order to enrich their presentation.
Literature: Sixth grade has finished Classic Mythology and begun Tale of Troy.
Seventh grade finished War Horse and will hopefully get a chance to watch the movie before the break. They are now reading Cyrano de Bergerac.
Computer/Library: Both grades should be finished with all 100 lessons of Typing Club before December 15th. If not, they will need to complete the lessons over the break. Any students that have not finished upon returning from the break will be required to stay in during lunch and attend Friday School until they are caught up. Remember, I make the computer lab available every day after school. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Mr. Vieira’s Updates:
Riggs (Spelling): Students receive six new words a day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They test words on those same three days. For a complete list of words, please visit the blog.
History/Geography: Sixth graders have spent the last two months learning about Ancient Greece and Rome. We wrap up our studies this week before heading into a brief study of the European Enlightenment. The final exam for Ancient Greece and Rome will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, December 15th.
Seventh grade spent a dirty, toilsome day in the trenches last week! We will be wrapping up our study of WWI this week and moving into a brief study of the Russian Revolution. The final exam for WWI will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, December 15th.
Writing: We have transitioned to completing writing assignments on computers, using Google Docs. Students have access to their work, both finished and unfinished, from wherever they are. Sixth grade is finishing up a re-telling of the story of Jason and the Golden Fleece. Seventh grade has begun work on their first nonfiction research report.
