Hello again, everyone!
I am writing to remind you that our first field trip is scheduled. It is an overnight trip to Pine Mountain Observatory. Last May our 6th grade class visited Pine Mountain Observatory east of Bend.
What we still need:
Chaperones- we need at least one more adult to accompany our 6th graders on this trip. Please let me know ASAP if you are able to join us! It will be a unique and enlightening experience!
Trip details follow:
Date and Time (Please arrive at school at 8 am)
This is an overnight trip. We depart campus at 9:00 am Thursday, September 17th and leave PMO at 10 am on Friday, September 18th
The trip takes approximately four hours each way.
Destination: Pine Mountain Observatory, east of Bend
We will be taking a bus. However, here is the explanation of how we will get to PMO: "PMO is located 34 miles southeast of Bend, in Central Oregon. Take State Highway 20 east from Bend, toward Burns. 26 miles from Bend, just beyond the tiny Millican store (CLOSED) turn on the dirt road and follow it to the top of Pine Mountain, about 8 miles. This drive requires about an hour from Bend. Be sure you have enough fuel to return to Bend and be sure to bring warm clothing, food and water, as there is usually no food or water service onsite."
