As we talked about at Back to School Night, volunteering in the classroom is one way to demonstrate to your student that you value education. I fully understand that not everyone's schedule allows them to do so, but, I welcome those that can.
Every day there are opportunities for parents or grandparents to be involved in the classroom and in our school. Here are a few possibilities. If any of them look enticing, please let me know and we'll get you started right away!
1. Office Help - Day and time of your choice - Volunteers will answer the phone, take messages, and greet visitors while Mrs. Marlatt takes care of the other million things she has to do. A friendly smile is really all that is needed!
2. Fluency Assessments - Day and time of your choice, first week of the month - Volunteers listen to each student read for one minute, marking any errors. All materials and training will be provided for you.
3. Recess Games - 12:15 - 12:30 - Volunteers will engage students who are playing basketball or kickball. The primary objective is those playing have another positive role model.
