Ms. Venture’s Updates:
Science:
Sixth grade has begun their study of oceans. This unit will take several weeks and will culminate with their trip to Outdoor School where they will get the chance to interact with oceanic life and get hands one with fantastic creatures of the deep.
Seventh grade is continuing their study of the cell. We will move into Meiosis and Mitosis, followed by DNA, genetics, and heredity.
Literature:
It’s drama time! For the next two months our classes will be working to bring classical literature to life. This year we have chosen to combine the story of The Prince and the Pauper with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde into a live, 80’s themed musical performance. Students have been assigned their parts and should be memorizing their lines and song lyrics!
Computer/Library:
Library time every Thursday morning. This is your child’s opportunity to check out and return books from the school library! We will meet up there first thing in the morning.
Students now have the goal of earning five stars on all Typing Club levels. They should work on this throughout the remainder of the year. Ms. Venture is available Mondays and Wednesdays after school and most Fridays. Please contact her if you would like to take advantage of the lab during these times.
Mr. Vieira’s Updates:
Riggs (Spelling): Your child should be practicing their new words each night. Students should also practice missed words each night. A running list of words can be found on the blog.
History/Geography: Final exams are coming!
Seventh Grade final exams will be a two-part event. On Thursday the 9th they will have a multiple-choice type test. Notes will not be allowed. They will then have the weekend to prepare for a longer essay-type assessment regarding the exam. Notes will be allowed for the essay.
